Concert at the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn

“Concertino for Piano and Orchestra” by Władysław Szpilman will be the story of a life in hiding and then an attempt to return to normality in post-war Poland. “Concerto for Trumpet” by Mieczysław Wajnberg will serve as a testimony of a refugee: a young fugitive who, in the first days of September 1939, had to leave his family and all his past behind and then seek refuge and a new identity in Soviet Russia – wandering internally between three worlds: Polish, Jewish and Soviet, until the end of his life. The concert will also feature a selection of piano pieces by Josima Feldschuh, an 11-year-old girl from the Warsaw Ghetto. The girl died of tuberculosis on the third day of the Ghetto Uprising.
The concerts will be accompanied by educational materials prepared jointly by the Beethoven Orchestra and the POLIN Museum. The two concerts will be listened to by around 2,000 young people from Bonn and the surrounding area.
