“The city behind the wall” – a literary look at the ghetto – a city walk

During the walk, we will look at the ghetto from both sides of the wall. We will refer to the literary testimonies of Jewish and Polish authors. The everyday life of the ghetto will be brought closer to us by the notes of Rachela Auerbach, a writer and social activist who ran a kitchen for the poor in the ghetto and, at the same time, tried to put on paper an experience impossible to describe. We will compare them with texts by Polish authors Maria Dąbrowska and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. What did they know? What did they write about? What did they choose to keep silent about?
