City walk: “Babysitters: About women who save children”
What did it mean to save a child in the ghetto? What dilemmas did mothers and babysitters have to face during the Great Liquidation Action? What message did the mother of Adina Blady-Szwajger, a doctor and author of memoirs from the ghetto, leave for her daughter?
During the meeting, we will give voice to Jewish mothers who faced tragic choices in order to save their children. We will also describe the fate of children brought up by their foster Polish mothers. We will recall the stories of women who, during the war, devoted themselves to caring for orphaned or sick children and often, without trying to save themselves, stayed with them until the end.
Meeting in the main hall of the POLIN Museum.
